The homeowners had only been able to utilize about half of their backyard due to a steep hillside covered with ivy, brambles, and small trees and bushes. We initially worked with an excavator to remove the ivy and brambles and level the area into 3 level terraces created by multiple retaining walls (see photo after excavation). Once this was completed we built Keystone and natural rock retaining walls on both the uphill and downhill sides of the terraced area to stabilize the terraces (see photos with walls only). We then installed drainage behind the walls, leveled the area, and installed pavers, with stairs and small retaining walls between the terraces. The homeowners now have 2000 additional square feet of usable space that they have used to set up a play area for their children, a patio set, and an area for a garden shed.
